A week-long, summer art camp for young creators
Magical Creatures Art Camp • Ages 7-11
June 22-26 • M-F • 9:30-1:30 • $420
Who is your favorite magical animal?
In this camp, we’ll discover, imagine, build and create amazing creatures all week long!
monster mugs • powerful room guardians • puppets • itty bitty critter dwellings • amazing masks • mix & match stuffy pets (mostly housebroken) • totem amulets • personal sketchbook bestiaries • and more…
Dream up your ideal companion, or transform into the dragon of your dreams!
Pretty or preposterous, we will come up with creations for every taste.
Each day begins with storytelling and sketching, followed by a dive into a main project. We’ll take a break for lunch and possibly a walk to the park with monster hunts and games. In the afternoon, kids are welcome to continue work on a previous project, or invent something of their own.
An extension to 3:30pm is available for campers with the focus and motivation to dive deeper.
DRESS FOR MESS - In a cacophony of creative chaos (with appropriate supervision) we will be using paints, pens, glue guns, sculpey, air-dry clay, colored resin, paper, cardboard, fabric, beads, wire, buttons, foam, feathers, googly eyes and MORE googly eyes - along with every other art supply in the known universe.
Camp is based on north Capitol Hill in a working art studio, led by artist and illustrator Karen Lewis, ably assisted by Paloma Hass Durgin.
To reserve your spot:
Fill in the registration form and $100 deposit. We’ll get back to you more information.
